Vote No on Proposal 2

On November 4, Michigan voters will decide whether to radically amend the Michigan constitution to allow lethal research on live human embryos. Proposal 2, a proposed constitutional amendment, would change Michigan's Constitution to allow for unregulated experimentation on live human embryos. Michigan Citizens Against Unrestricted Science and Experimentation, MiCAUSE, has formed to oppose Proposal 2.

Why vote No on Proposal 2?

  • Proposal 2 allows unrestricted experimentation on human embryos. The proposal states that no laws may "prevent, restrict, obstruct, or discourage any stem cell research..."
  • as a constitutional amendment, Proposal 2 will prevent any future legal attempts to regulate or restrict human embryo research. The Legislature will have no ability to regulate anything related to stem cell research in Michigan.
  • if adopted, your tax dollars could be the next target for funding this unregulated research that involves destroying human lives.
  • while proponents would like you to believe that Proposal 2 strengthens Michigan's human cloning ban, it does not. The initiative DOES NOTHING to protect or strengthen the current ban on human cloning.
  • while the proposed constitutional amendment appears to simply legalize human embryonic stem cell research, it does not. Such research is already allowed and is being done in Michigan.

Experimenting on and destroying human embryos is not the cure Michigan needs. Vote No on Proposal 2.
