What is MiCAUSE

Michigan Citizens Against Unrestricted Science and Experimentation (MiCAUSE) was formed in response to a proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution. The proposed constitutional amendment would allow unrestricted experimentation on live human embryos. MiCAUSE will work to educate people about the troubling questions raised by Proposal 2.

Proposal 2 Invites Taxpayer Funding

When other states embraced human embryo and human embryonic stem cell research, it came with a hefty price tag. Taxpayers are the real “investors.” In New York, stem cell research is costing taxpayers $600 million. California taxpayers are stuck with a $3 billion bill. Taxpayer Dollars to Destroy Human Embryos – Is that the cure Michigan needs? Vote No on Proposal 2.

Proposal 2 Allows Buying, Selling & Destroying Human Embryos

This measure would allow the buying, selling and destroying of human embryos for experimentation. Proposal 2 opens the door to black market trafficking of live human embryos for unrestricted research. With a limited supply of embryos and eggs, and so much money at stake, pressure for a black market will be enormous. Buying, Selling and Trafficking Human Embryos – Is that the cure Michigan needs? Vote No on Proposal 2.

Proposal 2 Sets Stage for Human Cloning

According to the measure’s spokesperson, Proposal 2 is designed to make the public “more comfortable” with human cloning. If adopted, repealing Michigan’s cloning ban would be revisited. Human Cloning – Is that the cure Michigan needs? Vote No on Proposal 2.

Proposal 2 Authorizes Weird/Radical Science in Michigan

Passing Proposal 2 would allow scientists in corporate labs to mix cow and human genes together for experimentation, just as is currently being done in England. Radical Science – Is that the cure Michigan needs? Vote No on 2.
